Scalenghe hosts seminar to boost the energy transition
December 12, 2022
The second interactive workshop on the theme of energy transition and the creation of CERs - Renewable Energy Communities took place on Saturday 3 December in the Council Hall of the Town of Scalenghe. The workshop, aimed at local administrators and sector experts, is part of the "EC2 - Energy Citizenship and Energy Communities" project funded by the European Union through the Horizon 2020 program. The EC2 Consortium includes four universities (Graz (A), Groningen ( NL), Wroclaw (PL) and Leipzig (D)), the Social Research Center ZSI in Vienna, the European network of municipalities ICLEI, the ecovillage network GEN-Europe, and practice partners from Poland, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.
The aim of the seminar was the creation of innovative tools to help the establishment of new ECs and the growth of energy citizenship at a socio-cultural level. Interesting proposals have emerged, including a web portal-blog to put the various local realities in contact, a game-simulation on the theme of energy aimed at local activists and young people, and a videoclip which narrates a local best practice action (the creation of a photovoltaic system for civic uses with the support of citizens).
Emanuel Giraudo, councilor of the Municipality of Scalenghe, says: “These interactive meetings are proving to be strategic for our territory, because they always offer updated information at a European level and create a local network among experts, administrators, citizens and economic operators. Only by acting in synergy between the various social components and involving people directly can we really activate the processes necessary for an energy transition, the absolute urgency of which is felt today more than ever."
The next appointment will be at the end of June, again in Scalenghe, for the evaluation and development of the instruments selected by the EC2 consortium.
